Sumeet Vyas’s journey is one that actors aspire for — content-rich scripts, perfectly timed exposure and a sprinkling of right-time-right-place

Who would have thought that the daft-but-adorable Mikesh from Permanent Roommates would be starring opposite Kareena Kapoor Khan in Veere Di Wedding, one of the most hotly awaited films of this year? Sumeet Vyas’s journey is one that actors aspire for — content-rich scripts, perfectly timed exposure and a sprinkling of right-time-right-place. Along with becoming an internet sensation, Vyas also concentrated on film roles, flaunting memorable supporting roles in films such as English Vinglish, Aurangzeb and Parched. But it was his performances in shows such as Stories by Rabindranath Tagore and Permanent Roommates that made him a household name. The man’s also written shows such as Bang Baaja Baaraat, TVF Tripling (he also starred in it) and the recent Netflix film, Love Per Square Foot. Talk about being talented. It would be interesting to see how he breaks into the big league now, with the industry slowly opening its arms to outsiders and allowing them their deserved slice of the spotlight.
