Tiwari’s portraits have a haunting quality, with a strong sense of foreboding and doom, which ties in with his themes of taboo, desire, assault and cerebral conflict. Arresting and immersive, he has an interesting way of giving the most regular of concepts a wicked twist – like a sudden smack of bitter orange in an Old Fashioned. His models are interesting choices themselves, with expressive features, and they tie in well with the narrative and aesthetic of his photography.
