Lakshya Sen, the rising badminton star, is making waves in Paris Olympics
On Sunday at the Porte de la Chapelle arena, Lakshya Sen lost his semi-final clash against Viktor Axelsen, but the efforts he put in will be remembered for ages. Against one of the most dominant shuttlers of recent times, Sen played with tremendous aggression, had a significant advantage in the greater part of both games, but just failed to close the game. Axelsen rose up to the occasion, overturning a seven-nil deficit in the second game, and winning the whole thing.
The Indian player showed fearlessness as he gave his all on the court, leaving his heart out there during the match. Despite several unanswered questions looming in his mind, he ultimately lost 20-22, 14-21 in a match against his opponent. At one point, he held a 15-9 lead in the first game before his competitor scored four consecutive points. Although he maintained his lead and was just three points away from winning the opening game, Axelsen capitalized on some unforced errors to secure a 22-20 victory.
“Lakshya is an amazing player. He has shown in this Olympics that he is a very, very strong competitor and I am sure in four years from now, he will be one of the favourites to win the gold. An amazing talent and a great guy and I wish him all the best,” said Axelsen after scampering through the game.
Sen, hailing from Almora, Uttarakhand, and born on August 16, 2001 comes from a background rich in badminton history. His father, D.K. Sen, is a coach, and his brother, Chirag Sen, has competed in international badminton tournaments.
According to a report by Sportskeeda, Lakshya Sen's estimated net worth is approximately Rs 41 crore, which includes earnings from his successful badminton career, as well as income from brand endorsements and social media engagements. With his continued triumphs in various tournaments and potential Olympic successes, his net worth will likely increase significantly.
