Volvo Launches XC40 Facelift; Updates Entire Lineup With Hybrid Powertrain

Updates can be seen on the interiors and exteriors

Along with launching the facelifted XC40, Volvo India has also updated its entire lineup with electric and hybrid options. The SUV will now be available at an introductory price of Rs 43.20 lakh during the festive season. Post which, Volvo will hike up the price to Rs 45.90 lakh (all, ex-showroom).



So, what do you get for a premium of around Rs 1.50 lakh over the older model? Updated exteriors, fancier interiors and of course, a mild-hybrid powertrain. Speaking of which, the XC40 will now be offered a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol motor mated to a 48-volt mild hybrid system, which delivers a combined output of 197PS (up by 7PS) power and 300Nm of torque.

In terms of design, most of the updates are focused at the front. It now gets sleeker, angular looking LED headlamps with redesigned DRLs. The front bumper too now looks more angular, with creases across its bodywork. There are also two colour options on offer – Fjord Blue and Sage Green.

The interior now features a new the infotainment system, with voice control assistance, navigation and more. Other features here include an air purifier with a PM 2.5 filter, 14-speaker Harmon Kardon sound system, adaptive cruise control, pilot assist, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring and more.

Along with the XC40, Volvo has also updated the XC90 with a new infotainment system and discontinued the 2.0-litre plug-in hybrid petrol variant, keeping only the 2.0-litre mild-hybrid variant which makes 300PS of power. Coming back to the XC40, it now goes against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLA (Rs 44.90 lakh), the Mini Countryman (Rs 42 lakh-46 lakh) and the Audi Q3 (Rs 44.89 lakh-50.39 lakh).
