SRK plays his own biggest fan in the movie
Shah Rukh Khan’s film Fan, due out in April of next year, has been generating quite a bit of interest already. Since it stars SRK, this was only to be expected, but the film’s premise is equally intriguing – Khan plays a man who says he is Shah Rukh Khan’s biggest fan. Maneesh Sharma (who gave us the excellent Band Baja Baraat and has also made Ladies Vs Ricky Behl and Shuddh Desi Romance) directs, while Aditya Chopra produces.
The teaser opens with actual footage of Khan’s fans going apeshit when he makes an appearance at his bungalow in Mumbai and at stage shows around the world – screaming, crying, going into raptures, the works. It then segues into a sequence where a man, who looks exactly like SRK from the back, is about to make an entrance onto a rather smaller stage, with the announcer introducing him as the biggest fan of the biggest star in the world.
Khan himself is very excited about the film, as he revealed during our interview with him, and we have to say that we’re dead keen to see how it will turn out – light-hearted drama or dark, brooding commentary on the drawbacks of fame? We’ll just have to wait and see.
