Haryana Cricketer Dupes Rishabh Pant Of Rs 1.63 Crore
Rishabh Pant’s Love For Luxurious Watches Costs Him Rs 1.63 Crore

Both of them met at zonal cricket camp, where Mrinank told Pant about his new business

Rishabh Pant has filed a complaint against Harayana cricketer Mrinank Singh, who conned the wicket-keeper batsman under the pretext of reselling luxurious items at a reasonable rate. Pant’s loss is estimated at around Rs 1.63 crore in principal amount.

Mrinank is currently serving a sentence at Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai for scamming a businessman of
Rs 6 lakh.

Both of them met at zonal cricket camp, where Mrinank told Rishabh Pant about his new business. Other than procuring highly expensive items at a reasonable price, Mrinank also promised Pant that he will get him a fair price for reselling various items. Delhi Capitals skipper then transferred a sizeable amount, and also handed over the luxurious watches and jewellery, worth ₹65,70,731.

“Believing in the story of the accused, Pant handed over a luxury watch and few jewelry items in the month of Feb 2021 to the accused, that were purchased by him for Rs 65,70,731/- (Sixty Five Lakh Seventy Thousand Seven Hundred Thirty One only) for resale,” read the complaint.

Upon receiving a legal notice, Mrinank issued a cheque which was dishonored due to insufficient funds.

“After a while, when he was not able to obtain those articles, we gave him a legal notice and a mutual settlement was arrived at Rs 1.63 crore for which Mr. Mrinank Singh issues us a cheque. Now, once we presented this cheque before the bank authorities, we got a return memo saying that there has been a dishonourment of the cheque and it has bounced because of insufficient funds,” he added.

Since Mrinank is under imprisonment, he was unable to show up for the magisterial hearing. However, the concerned authority has been asked to arrange a virtual meeting for the next hearing, scheduled on July 19th.

Rishabh Pant was last seen in action a few days ago, in an IPL match between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians. Delhi lost that game, and got knocked out of the tournament. He will now join the Indian squad for the upcoming T20I series against South Africa.
