Ranveer Singh Records A New Statement In Nude Photoshoot Case
Ranveer Singh Claims Controversial Nude Shoot Revealing His Privates Was ‘Morphed’

The Mumbai Police had booked the actor under various sections of the Indian Penal Code

Who knew that a photoshoot could land Ranveer Singh in such trouble? The actor was recently summoned to a Mumbai police station after an FIR, filed by an NGO, cited the Bollywood actor as “hurting sentiments of women” after his nudes (from the shoot) went viral. Singh subsequently recorded his statement, claiming that the pictures were tampered with, and wasn’t posted by him.

Amongst the many racy pictures that did the rounds online, one photo, in particular, offended various sections of Indian society, triggering a nationwide backlash against the Bajirao Mastani star. In the said picture, Singh’s private parts are partly visible which, according to the NGO in question, was an ‘insult to people’s modesty’. The Mumbai Police eventually filed the FIR under various Sections of the Indian Penal Code i.e. 292 (sale of obscene books, etc), 293 (sale of obscene objects to young people), 509 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and provisions of the Information Technology Act.

Singh statement came shortly after an official announcement from the Mumbai police. “We had asked the actor to come to the police station by August 30. He visited the police station on Monday at 7:30 am and was present at the police station till 9:30 am,” informed the deputy commissioner of police, Krishna Kant Upadhyay, Zone VI.

The actor might be summoned again if the issue necessitates further questioning. The police will reportedly analyze Singh’s first statement before arriving at a decision. Work-wise, Singh has an impressive lineup of films in the pipeline. He will be reuniting with Alia Bhatt for Rocky Aur
Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The film also marks Karan Johar’s return to the director’s seat after Aae Dil Hai Mushkil. Plus, Singh’s working with Simmba director, Rohit Shetty, once again for Cirkus.
