More than 30-leading scientists across the globe have finally reached a scientific consensus that defines a healthy and sustainable diet. And, no it isn’t veganism or vegetarianism. Although, they are great initiatives towards a healthy lifestyle.


But, this dramatic new diet caters to nourishing the world’s growing population. Additionally, it addresses the critical issues of climate change, pollution, loss of biodiversity and destruction of wildlife.


The population is set to reach 10 billion people by 2050, and a growing population will hamper our current diet and food production habits.


And, this diet may be the solution.


The Planetary Diet:









It is the need of the hour to reduce the consumption of red meat by half. As per this diet, the optimal intake is 2,500-calories a day. This plant-based diet comprises of huge portions of fruits and vegetables. It also restricts your servings of chicken and fish consumption. As for dairy, one can stick to consuming a glass of milk, per day.


As per reports, this diet can prevent as many as 11.6 million premature deaths caused by unhealthy eating habits without harming the planet. Plus, scientists believe this diet will reduce chronic diseases such as coronary heart disease, stroke and diabetes, along with environmental degradation.


Although, some scientists are sceptical of a massive change in people’s diet patterns. Hence, implementation of the planetary diet may face substantial push back.
