Ever felt tired of deciding? That’s what Netflix tends to do best. There are just so many things to watch, you simply can’t set your mind on one. Hmm, maybe I could start The Witcher today, but oh wait, this new crime documentary looks interesting. Well, some Schitt’s Creek couldn’t hurt, maybe I’ll just watch that. You see? It sometimes gets impossible to go with one.
So, Netflix is being a good parent and introducing some viewing discipline in our lives. How? By making Netflix feel more like TV, which is something they ironically tried to distance themselves from, being the modern-day alternative to television.
According to a report by Variety, the streaming company began testing a ‘Netflix Direct‘ channel in France that offers curated content in a scheduled, TV-like manner. The test began rolling out November 5, and will steadily be widely in the country starting December.
The company says it chose France because “in France, watching traditional TV remains hugely popular with people who just want a ‘lean back’ experience where they don’t have to choose shows.”
“We’re trying a new feature for our members in France – called ‘Direct.’ Maybe you’re not in the mood to decide, or you’re new and finding your way around, or you just want to be surprised by something new and different,” they added.
