‘Jury Gave Me My Life Back’: Johnny Depp After Positive Verdict In Defamation Case

The jury found both parties liable for defamation

After a heated, month-long trial that had everyone glued to their screens with shocking facts and revelations, the Virginia court jury has finally issued its verdict on the Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard defamation case. Depp won the defamation case, with Heard now liable to pay the star a sum of $15 million in damages. 


The jury also ruled in favour of Heard, keeping in mind the accusations she made against Depp. She was awarded $2 million in damages.

Johnny Depp had an emotional moment after the verdict was announcedh and he took to Instagram to thank everyone for their support:

He wrote, “Six years ago, my life, the life of my children, the lives of those closest to me, and also, the lives of the people, who for many, many years have supported and believed in me were forever changed. All in the blink of an eye. It had already travelled around the world twice within a nanosecond and it had a seismic impact on my life and career.

He went on, “And six years later, the jury gave me my life back. I am truly humbled. My decision to pursue this case, knowing very well the height of the legal hurdles that I would be facing and the inevitable, worldwide spectacle into my life, was only made after considerable thought.” He also said the trail had changed things for him and he would now look at things in a new light.

Heard also issued a statement after the verdict. She said, “The disappointment I feel today is beyond words. I’m heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence, and sway of my ex-husband. I’m even more disappointed with what this verdict means for other women. It is a setback.”



In 2018, Johnny Depp sued Amber Heard after she wrote an op-ed in The Washington Post. She had talked about domestic abuse and called herself a survivor. The duo got married in 2015 and later divorced in 2017.
