2023 BMW XM And BMW M340i Sedan Launched At The Company’s Joytown Event
BMW Launches The All-new XM SUV And The Updated M340i Sedan

The launch of the much-awaited BMW X7, however, has been postponed

BMW has officially launched the hybrid XM and the updated M340i xDrive sedan today, at its Joytown festival in Delhi. The all-new X7 which was also supposed to get its price reveal has been saved for a later launch. Coming back to today though, the M340i has received a price tag of Rs 69.20 lakh, while the XM is been priced at Rs 2.60 crore, making it the German automaker’s flagship offering on our shores (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi).

Starting with the flagship, the XM couldn’t have been a more significant departure from BMW’s traditional design language, sporting the small grille design albeit with different styling and gold accents. Other highlights here include a split headlamp assembly at the top and a vertically stacked exhaust outlet at the rear. The side profile though is dominated by the stock 21-inch wheels, which can be upgraded to 22 or 23-inch units.

On the inside, the XM shares the same layout as the iX and the I4 with two 12.3-inch digital instrument clusters and the 14.0-inch touchscreen taking the centre stage. Electronic aids here consist of BMW’s latest Drive 8 software with ADAS tech, ambient lighting and four-zone climate control with Harman Kardon surround sound system.
Powering the plug-in hybrid is a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 working in conjunction with an electric motor, putting out a combined output of 653PS and 800Nm, mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. This helps the XM in sprinting from 0-100kmph in just 4.3 seconds.

Coming to the sedan, BMW has updated the M340i with a refreshed design, with a re-sculpted front grille and rear bumper. It now also features a split headlamp setup, while the side profile is dominated by 19-inch wheels. Powering it is the same 3.0-litre, inline-six turbocharged petrol engine, which puts out 380PS of power and 500Nm of torque, mated to a 48V mild-hybrid system. This helps it in sprinting from 0-100kmph in claimed 4 seconds.
