2023 Lamborghini Urus Becomes The Fastest SUV At Pikes Peak, Beating The Bentley Bentayga’s Record
The 2023 Lamborghini Urus Breaks The Climb Record At Pikes Peak: Details

Talking about making an entry, eh?

2023 (or 2022?) Lamborghini Urus hasn’t even broken the cover yet and is already setting up record lap times! Just yesterday, the raging bull climbed the (in)famous Pikes Peak in just 10:32.064, 18 seconds faster than the Bentley Bentayga in 2018, making it officially the fastest SUV up the mountain.

The Urus was piloted by Pirelli test driver Simone Faggiolo, who covered the 20km long upclimb, which gains 7,400+ feet in elevation and consists of nearly 156 corners. “The decision to test ourselves at Pikes Peak reflects the Lamborghini spirit of ‘expect the unexpected, and demonstrates the outstanding performance of the new Urus model to be presented shortly,” said Rouven Mohr, Automobili Lamborghini Chief Technical Officer.

What’s more exciting about Mohr’s comments is the fact that the record-breaking Urus was in its standard form, apart from a few safety mods like a roll cage, racing seats with a six-point harness and a fire extinguisher. Additionally, the Urus is also said to be the twin-turbo V8 model, indicating that the heavily rumoured PHEV version may be offered as an additional variant and not an outright replacement.

Further cementing our point, the Urus was recently spotted with a bigger intake and a roof spoiler, suggesting that the company is attempting to extract as much as power from its existing V8. Considering its quickness on the climb, it wouldn’t be outlandish to suggest that the manufacturer was also able to shed some weight from the current gen model.

Lamborghini has confirmed that it’ll be launching three new models this year. We already know that one of them scheduled for an August release is the Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato, the company’s attempt at building a performance “off-road” machine. One of the other two, we think could be the Urus, and it might even come to our shores by the end of this year.

Unit though, all we can do is wait and keep watching this over and over again –
